Your journey to CHANGE

Starting on a journey to change something in your life can be scary and exciting! Depending on your experience and who you are you will feel either one or the other or a mix. Fear can often get in the way when wanting to change in life and how should you mange that?
Why have you not started yet? What are you waiting for?

Whether it is a weight loss, a lifestyle change a career change or maybe even a complete change of moving to a new location. It is all about the CHANGE and it is all about getting out of your comfort zone and find new ways.

GOALSETTING is key at the beginning.

You want to set a goal for yourself that is:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Action-oriented
  • Realistic
  • Time bounded

Once your goal is set you might feel REALLY excited about it and ready to go. And then…

In comes the fear …

 

FEAR limit or fuel?

Fear usually comes shortly after your feelings of empowerment. Once you’ve thought about what it is that you want, you encounter your fear. You become uncomfortable and anxious about the idea of changing. You doubt your decision. You feel helpless or even empty inside

Just remember that fear is an indicator that this is IMPORTANT to you. You can either let yourself be held back by it OR you can use it as fuel to get fired up about it and take ACTION.

So take your fear and become FRIENDS with it.

  • Identify the fear and write it down

This way you can analyse it and start question it. Do this everytime it manifests to understand if there is a pattern, if the fear is on a head level or on a stomach level.

  • Excuses come up

Write them down too and start analysing them – questioning them and see if you have a pattern.

  • Ask yourself What is MORE important than your fear and excuses.

This would be the ultimate step to actually go and do what it is you are so scared to do.

 

Believe in it

Last but not least – you need to believe that you can achieve your goal – or else you will not even take the first small steps to try and make it!

  • Visualize yourself when you have reached your goal. What does it feel like? What does it look like? How has your life changed? Who are you with? What else can you achieve once you have done this?
